Is it okay to paint my propane tank to match the color of my house, business or rv?
Propane customers often take it upon themselves to paint their new tanks colors that will complement their houses, RV's, businesses, or landscaping. Unfortunately this can present safety issues if the tank color is too dark or non-reflective. Light colors reflect heat, while dark colors absorb heat. Propane tanks need to reflect heat, not absorb them. When you give us a call, you will be connected directly to our owner, so you can expect immediate attention to your inquiry.
Do propane tanks explode easily?
This has become a myth due to action movies where a common 'explosion scene,' often involves propane tanks. In reality, propane tanks do not explode, nor do they rupture or break apart on their own. To explode a propane tank is extremely difficult and saftey devices and mechanisms are put in place to prevent accidents, explosions, and ruptures. Human error is often a primary factor in preventing or contributing to accidents. When you give us a call, you will be connected directly to our owner, so you can expect immediate attention to your inquiry.
What is the hissing noise coming from my propane tank?
Propane tanks sometimes give off a hissing noise but it is nothing to be alarmed about. It does not mean the tank has a gas leak. In some situations, on hot days when the sun may be overhead and your propane tank is outdoors, the safety relief valve will open slightly allowing excess pressure to vent out of the propane tank, therefore making a hissing noise. The protective cap will be removed from the top of the valve if the relief valve has been opened. For safety measures, do not look into the relief valve or tap it with any object or your hand! There are large amounts of pressure within the tank. Doing so may cause the valve to open all the way. One way to stop the excess pressure is by cooling down your tank. A good way to do this is by spraying water on the tank from a hose. Spray the water on the surface of tank, not inside. This will typically cause the relief valve to close. If you have issues with your propane tank making hissing noises, give us a call and we will come out and assess the situation! We deliver, sell, and re-pair propane tanks. If your tank does end up needing a repair, we have you covered! When you give us a call, you will be connected directly to our owner, so you can expect immediate attention to your inquiry.
